Privacy Policy
1. Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Fold Laundry, Inc. ("Fold") collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use foldlaundry.com, the Fold mobile app, or our pickup and cleaning services (collectively, the "Service").
2. Information we collect
| Category | What's in it |
|---|---|
| Account info | Name, email, phone number, password (hashed), profile preferences. |
| Address & order info | Pickup/delivery address, gate codes or delivery notes, scheduled windows, items reported, order history, photos taken at intake. |
| Payment info | Last 4 digits of card and brand. Full card numbers go directly to our PCI-compliant payment processor (Stripe) — Fold does not see or store them. |
| Device & usage | IP address, browser type, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, app version, crash logs. |
| Communications | Texts, emails, and chat messages you exchange with our support team. |
3. How we use your information
- To schedule pickups, route drivers, and deliver your orders.
- To send you transactional texts and emails (pickup confirmations, driver-ETA, order ready).
- To send you marketing texts and emails about Fold features and promotions — you can opt out at any time.
- To process payments and handle refunds, credits, and claims.
- To prevent fraud, debug issues, and improve the Service.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. When we share information
We share personal information only with the parties listed below, and only as needed to provide the Service:
- Drivers and cleaning staff — your name, address, contact info, and order details so they can pick up, clean, and return your items.
- Payment processor (Stripe) — to charge your card and refund credits.
- SMS and email vendors (Twilio, SendGrid) — to send you notifications and alerts.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers (Fly.io, AWS) — under enterprise data-processing agreements.
- Analytics and crash-reporting (Plausible, Sentry) — to understand how the app is used and to debug errors.
- Law enforcement or government — when required by law or to protect rights, property, or safety.
- Successor entities — if Fold is acquired, merged, or reorganized, your information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
We do not sell your personal information. We also do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
5. SMS / text messaging
When you create a Fold account, you provide consent to receive service and marketing auto-sent texts from Fold. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
You can opt out of marketing texts by replying STOP, or by visiting the My account page in the app. Reply HELP for help. Opting out of marketing texts does not stop transactional texts (like driver-ETA notifications) that are necessary to fulfill an active order — you can stop those by closing your account.
Phone numbers and SMS consent data are not shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
6. Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your settings. We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-respecting analytics tool that does not use cookies or collect personal identifiers. We use Sentry for crash and error reporting — Sentry receives diagnostic data and your user ID, but not the contents of your orders or messages.
7. Data retention
We keep account and order data for the duration of your account, plus the time needed to comply with our legal obligations (typically 7 years for financial records). You can request deletion of your account at any time — see "Your privacy rights" below.
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including TLS encryption for data in transit, encryption at rest for our database, hashed passwords, and access controls limiting employee data access to a need-to-know basis. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep yours protected.
9. Your privacy rights
You can review and update your account info from the My account page in the Fold app. To request a copy of your data, correct an error, or delete your account, email privacy@foldlaundry.com from the email on your account. We respond within 30 days.
10. California residents
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, ask us to delete it, correct inaccuracies, and opt out of "sales" and "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Fold does not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
You can exercise your CCPA rights by emailing privacy@foldlaundry.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
11. Children
Fold is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or in-app message at least 30 days before they take effect.
