How to get laundry done at your hotel in LA or SF — without the $8-a-shirt form
Day four of a trip and the suitcase is turning. You have three options at a hotel in Los Angeles or San Francisco, and the one on the laminated card in your closet is the most expensive.
Option 1: the hotel laundry form
Convenient, and priced like it. Typical 2026 hotel rates are $4–6 per t-shirt, $7–12 per dress shirt, $15+ per pair of pants, often with a 24–48 hour turnaround and a rush surcharge to get it faster. A modest bag of a week's clothes comes to $80–150. Some hotels no longer offer it at all and hand you a card for a laundromat instead.
Option 2: find a laundromat
There are good ones — the Mission and Silver Lake are full of them — but you are spending two hours of a vacation or a work trip in a laundromat, with a rideshare each way if you're staying in Beverly Hills or Nob Hill. It is the cheapest option in cash and the most expensive in trip time.
Option 3: a pickup service that works with the front desk
This is what Fold's hotel service does: you schedule online with your hotel and room number (no account), leave the bag at the front desk before 9 AM, and it's back at the desk by 8 PM the same day — washed, folded, or pressed on hangers (wash & fold and dry cleaning alike). It works at any hotel in our Los Angeles or San Francisco service area; the hotel doesn't need to be a partner, just willing to hold a bag. Cost: wash & fold is $49.99 flat for up to 15 lb, then $2.65/lb, and dry cleaning is from $5.99 a shirt, with a $49.99 order minimum; a flat $9.99 hotel service charge is added on top. For a week's clothes that is well under the in-house price.
Tips from the front-desk side
- Tell the desk a courier is coming and give them your name — they hold bags all day, they just need to know whose.
- Missed the morning cutoff? Express same-day (+$30) still gets it back by 8 PM if the bag is at the desk by noon; otherwise it's next evening.
- Checking out before it's back? Say so when you schedule. We'll deliver to your next hotel or hold it.
- Put dry cleaning and wash & fold in separate bags.
Which to pick
One shirt for a meeting tomorrow morning: the hotel form. A week of clothes and a free afternoon you don't want to spend in a laundromat: pickup. A week of clothes and a tight budget: the laundromat, with the two hours as the price.
