Laundry pickup & delivery in Los Angeles: how the services compare

Fold Laundry · Updated October 30, 2026 · 6 min read

Checked October 30, 2026 against each company’s own website. Prices and service areas change, so confirm on their sites before you order. Fold wrote this guide; we have tried to describe every service fairly, including where another one may suit you better.

Short answer: Los Angeles has four main laundry pickup services. Fold and HappyNest return wash & fold the next day from their own facilities. Rinse picks up in the evening and returns in about 3–4 days. Poplin is a marketplace of independent “Laundry Pros” with a 24-hour standard. The right one depends on how you want to pay (per pound or per bag), when you can leave your bag out, and how fast you need it back.

Per pound or per bag?

Per-pound pricing (Fold, Poplin) charges for exactly what you send, so a light week costs less. Per-bag pricing (Rinse, HappyNest, and Fold Club) is simpler and works out cheaper when you pack the bag full — but a half-empty bag costs the same as a full one. A typical solo week of 12–18 lb costs about $40–48 at Fold’s per-pound rate; a couple’s 20–28 lb is about $53–74. See what wash & fold costs in LA for the full math.

Which one fits you

  • You want it back tomorrow and like paying for what you send: Fold (per pound, next day, 7:30–9:30 AM or 6:30–9:30 PM pickup).
  • You want a flat price per bag and next-day return: HappyNest, or Fold Club if you send a full bag most weeks.
  • You’re only home in the evening: Fold’s evening window runs 6:30–9:30 PM (Rinse’s is 8–10 PM), and Fold returns wash & fold the next day instead of 3–4 days. Rinse is still worth a look if you want its 1-hour Priority windows.
  • Lowest advertised per-pound price matters most: check Poplin’s rate for your ZIP, and factor in its minimum and fees.
  • You need dry cleaning too: Fold and Rinse both do dry cleaning and wash & fold in one pickup.

Questions to ask any service

  • Is the price per pound or per bag, and what is the minimum order?
  • Are pickup and delivery free, or are there service, delivery or rush fees?
  • Where is my laundry washed, and is it ever mixed with other customers’?
  • What happens if something is damaged or lost?
  • Can I set detergent, water temperature and folding preferences once and have them remembered?
